Farewell from President Silverlight

Dear 2322 members,

I write to you today to say goodbye and thank you for giving me the honor of being president of this great Local for six years. Since I became involved with our Local in 2011, I have been able to witness so much positive change and growth as we have weathered many transitions, expanded our union, supported each other, fought for our rights at the bargaining table, in the streets, at the statehouse and everywhere in between. I have been honored to be the president of this Local because I believe that our power lies in our differences, and I have seen us be able to come together and win.

I am extremely proud of the leadership of all of our workplaces, of the members who fulfill leadership positions as stewards, on the Joint Council, on the Eboard and on our staff. I have so much faith in your president elect, Anais Surkin, and the rest of the Executive Board to continue to grow and push for justice in our communities. Always remember that WE are the union, and in the face of challenge, when we fight together, we win. When we engage in collective action, when we speak the truth, and when we don’t back down, we win. Thank you for believing in me, working with me, and giving me the honor to join you in the struggle.

In solidarity,
Jocelyn Silverlight
UAW 2322 President 2013-2019
