February 4, 2019

This spring, the membership of UAW Local 2322 will be holding triennial Executive Board elections, in accordance with the Constitution; Local 2322 bylaws; and the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959, as amended.

TERM OF OFFICE

Executive officers serve a three (3) year term which will end upon installation of new officers in 2022.  The installation of officers will take place during the May or June Executive Board meeting.

ELIGIBILITY TO RUN FOR EXECUTIVE OFFICE

To be eligible for election to any executive office you must be a member in continuous good standing since February 17, 2018.   If you are a member of a Local 2322 unit with a two-semester work year, two (2) consecutive semesters of membership constitutes membership in good standing.

A member may not run for or hold more than one executive office.  If any member accepts nomination for more than one office, the Election Committee shall deem that the member has accepted only the last nomination acceptance it receives.

NOMINATIONS

All members in good standing of Local 2322 (see definition above) are automatically nominated for all offices.  In order to run, you must accept nomination in writing, delivered by email to electionscommittee@uaw2322.org or first-class mail to UAW Local 2322 Election Committee, P.O. Box 146, Amherst, MA 01004.  The acceptance must be delivered by no later than 12 noon on February 18, 2019.   Any nomination or acceptance received after this deadline will be considered late and invalid. No other method of accepting nomination is allowed (e.g. write-in ballots, “sticker” campaigns, or another person announcing that you accept in your absence).

A member in good standing may nominate another member or members for any office. If you nominate someone, it is your responsibility to notify your nominee, and it is that nominee’s requirement to accept nomination in the manner described herein.

The acceptance email or letter must contain the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your primary telephone number (cell phone preferred)
  • Your postal mail address
  • Your Local 2322 unit
  • The office to which you are accepting nomination

Following the close of nominations, the Elections Committee will verify the eligibility of all nominees. On February 18, 2019, the Elections Committee will contact all candidates to discuss ground rules and other elections issues.

ELECTIONS

The election will be conducted via a mail ballot.  Ballots will be mailed to all known eligible voters with addresses on file with UAW 2322 by March 25, 2019.  Every member is encouraged to update or correct your address with Local 2322. You can reach the Local 2322 Office at (413) 534-7600, by e-mail at info@uaw2322.org. Updating your information will help assure that you properly receive a ballot.  If you do not receive a ballot, but feel you should have, please contact the union office.

In the event that the Election Committee receives no more than one nomination for a particular office (or no more than three, in the case of the office of Trustee), there will be no balloting for that office and the candidate for that office shall be declared elected by acclamation.

Please direct any questions to the Elections Committee at electionscommittee@uaw2322.org.

Signed,
Will Chaney and Tiarra Cooper
