UAW Video Contest

UAW has launched a video contest as part of our broader BuildBuyUSA campaign. That campaign focuses on using local purchasing power to create well-paying and sustainable manufacturing jobs. The contest is called “Make it in the USA” and it takes its inspiration from the iconic song “(Look for) the Union Label” sung by members of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Now is the time for activists of all stripes to update that message and use their creativity to define the future we want.

Videos can be original songs, skits, animation, raps or rants. Just put your vision on video and submit it at http://buildbuyusa.org/contest $5,000 prizes will be given to the winning entries in each of four categories: song; not a song; union members; people’s choice. The submission period runs through April 25 and the winning videos will be announced on June 1.

The contest will be judged by

  • Tom Morello — Grammy Award-winning musician, groundbreaking guitarist and legendary member of Rage Against the Machine;
  • John Acosta — President of the American Federation of Musicians Local 47, which represents more 7,000 professional musicians in southern California;
  • Heather C. McGhee — President of Demos, a public policy organization working for an America where we all have an equal say in our democracy and an equal chance in our economy.
