UAW employees at the YWCA of Western Massachusetts provide a multitude of service advocacy and support programs for the community, including: a 24-hour hotline, support and housing for teen mothers, court advocacy, shelter and programs for survivors of domestic violence. Employees organized with the UAW back in 2003 because they wanted to improve their working conditions, feel respected, valued and be compensated fairly. It isn’t always easy to advocate for yourself especially when the union employees are often more comfortable advocating for others, but everyone deserves a living wage and fair treatment.
