Monday at 1 pm, graduate student workers will meet at the Student Union steps to fill out holiday wish lists and petitions to give to the UMass administration. After being told they would receive their raises and retroactive pay in November, GEO raises have now been pushed to incremental pay outs starting next semester.
The lack of funding is coupled with the 100% increase in prescription copayment costs, including that for birth control which is supposed to remain at $10. While UHS agreed to lower the cost again starting in January, the out of pocket payments for grad students are an increasing burden.
Come join us today at the Student Union steps to bring the Chancellor a gift-wrapped petition or holiday wishlist!
