The housekeepers organized their unit back in 2000. This group of hard working unionists have a long term relationship with the college and turnover is extremely low.  The work is physical and demanding.  Employees are dedicated to their union and have pride in the work that that do for the college.  The bargaining unit is active and meets as a large group regularly for membership meetings and as a smaller elected group with management for labor/management meetings.  The unit participates with renewed pride and sees the power of organized labor in action with lively negotiations every few years. The bargaining committee has won new benefits, held on to past benefits, and improves overall language throughout the contract over the years.
