The Pioneer Valley Central labor Council will be hosting its annual conference Friday, April 28th. Venue and training topic details are still to come (this post will be updated as we get new information). Doors open for coffee and check in at 8:30 am. The Conference begins at 9 am and closes at 2 pm. Lunch will be served. This includes the Workers Memorial Day Ceremony.
At the Annual Conference, we share information and develop strategies to more effectively serve our members and organize for justice for all. As an educational event, the Annual Conference is meant to benefit the broad spectrum of union membership, from rank and file to shop steward to officers, and our community allies.
As a sign of respect honoring our brothers and sisters who have died on the job we recognize Workers Memorial Day. The theme of this year’s Workers Memorial Day is “Safe Jobs. Every Worker’s Right.” This year’s Workers Memorial Day highlights the safety and health gains unions have won and how this progress is now threatened by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress. Every year, thousands of workers do not return home after a day at work. At the end of the ceremony, the names of Massachusetts workers killed on the job in 2016 will be read. We ask that you attend to honor their memory.
The Local has four tickets for members to attend this event. If you are interested contact info@uaw2322.org and we’ll let you know if you are selected to go. Deadline to request one of these tickets is April 20th.
