FOR UNION CHILD OF UNION MEMBER
Each year, the Pioneer Valley Central Labor Council AFL-CIO awards up to six $500 college scholarships to high school seniors who are children of members of unions affiliated with the Central Labor Council.
They conduct the program “in house” with two local impartial judges not affiliated with any local union associated with the Central Labor Council. They judge the applicants primarily on a 500-or-more-word essay and secondarily on their high school transcripts and school and community activities.
The high school senior application must be signed by the applicant, by a union-member parent (any PVAFLCIO Union Member who takes care of the applicant like a parent, i.e., stands in loco parentis per the Family and Medical Leave Act), and by that parent’s union official.
FOR UNION MEMBER
The PVCLC AFLCIO voted to extend our annual scholarship program again this year to Union members who are continuing their education. There are two $500 scholarships available. More will be awarded if our ad book sales can cover additional scholarships.
