We’ll Be There
I’ll be at the Labor Notes conference because it gives me a sense that we are not alone; we are organizing the workforce in the U.S., making connections. Right now in Chicago we are busy fighting against privatization of public education. It’s a long fight, something that’s taking up a lot of time and effort, but it’s paying off. Al Ramirez – Chicago Teachers Union
I’ve gone to the last three Labor Notes conferences. Every time they are fresh and new and yet you get to see old friends and activists from around the country. I’ve gotten a lot of innovative ideas. One year we learned from building trades folks in California how to create an apprenticeship council. And I just love the camaraderie. Planning for the conference is also a way to organize—we have brought new members and budding activists. I’ve never just gone by myself. Amy Sprengelmeyer – UA Local 290 Pipefitter, Portland
Here in New York, nurses are hard at work building a union that can stand up for our members and our patients. And we couldn’t do it without Labor Notes! We’ll be at the 2014 Labor Notes Conference to share strategies and build connections with activists from around the country. It’s a concentrated dose of energy and inspiration you won’t want to miss. Karine Raymond – New York State Nurses Association
