At 9am on the MORNING of the hearing Justice for Jason Organizers from Western Massachusetts and Boston will be traveling to the Massachusetts Statehouse to deliver information about Jason’s case, over 2600 petition signatures and several letters in support of Jason to Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley and Governor Deval Patrick. Organizers will also request a meeting with both Attorney General Coakley and Governor Patrick, asking them to recognize the grave injustice occurring in Western Massachusetts by intervening in the case. This will be followed by a press conference at 10am announcing our intention to build statewide support and solidarity for Jason Vassell.

While organizers are busy in Boston, we need YOU in Northampton!

In the AFTERNOON Justice for Jason will be mobilizing again LOCALLY to show our unwavering  support of Jason at his next Pre-Trial Hearing. The strategy of Jason’s Legal Defense has been evolving over the last 14 months. Most recently Jason’s Lawyers were granted access to the last 5 years of files from the Prosecutor’s office for all cases involving similar charges in which the defendant and the “victim” are of different ‘racial backgrounds’. By contesting the Judge’s decision to grant the Defense access to these files, the Prosecution would like to keep this history hidden. What does this say about Justice in Hampshire County? In Massachusetts?

TUESDAY is the day to show that Massachusetts residents on BOTH sides of the state are standing together to demand Justice for Jason!! At 2PM Supporters will be picketing outside the House Superior Court. Make sure to arrive early if you would like to be in side the courtroom.

Immediately Following the hearing, Join us at the First Churches of Northampton for Updates on Jason’s case and to discuss the implications of these developments as well as the future of our movement for Justice for Jason.

We urge you to join us in calling on
District Attorney Elizabeth Schiebel and Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley to drop the charges against Jason!

If you plan on attending the press conference in Boston, please e-mail justiceforjason@gmail.com
